ABSTRACT

Fortitude provides leverage for those who have it. It is an amplifier for courage and animates judgment. This chapter provides the Fortitude Formula after observing hundreds of leaders over more than two decades. Fortitude needs courage and judgment to be more than brute, relentless force. The overuse of fortitude, determination, and drive create an environment in which changing a practice is regarded with suspicion, even as traitorous. As an alternative to mindless repetition and meaningless tasks, embrace the idea of leverage. Some leaders unwittingly use their influence to create stability. Statements from leaders leverage what he calls authority to prepare people for change. The motivational aspect of change is the most difficult and, therefore, the one most often skipped. However, there are a few points of leverage that are diminished by the mistakes identified. The most experienced people had learned to mine observational data to make predictions about clients and prospective clients.
