ABSTRACT

A lack of discipline about the process of making pivotal decisions leads to mistakes that undermine the investment thesis. A disciplined process, grounded in the investment thesis, is neither generic nor a planning quagmire. It is what is needed and, often, skipped. With disciplined process, fortitude is better calibrated and becomes an instrument of progress in ways that are precisely what is needed in the circumstance. Fortitude, applied in a refined and disciplined manner, is a lever that one can use to reverse that risk. The work of some leaders involves saving the lives of those threatened by domestic violence. It takes a leader with fortitude to resist that, and it is never more important than when the stakes are high. OnBoard is an organization whose mission is to increase the number of women in executive leadership and on corporate boards.
