ABSTRACT

This chapter on transformational leadership has been an attempt to touch upon the concept of Individuation for Leaders, both for the coach as well as the coachee. For they are both leaders. Despite it being yet another multidimensional, complex and almost mystical Jungian term, securing a basic understanding of its parameters may serve as a beacon light for those of us involved in supporting other people's development, whilst striving for their own. One could argue that this is the executive coach's primary asset; and perhaps the one that who tries to trick out the way most often. On the other hand, if they have taken the risk of acknowledging complexity, they might not arrive at neat conclusions and solutions; It has been argued by many that one should keep clear of such "psychoanalytic" concepts in coaching. The focus for coaching should be on behaviour, which is primarily a conscious aspect of our existence; and for psychotherapy on Epistemology.
