ABSTRACT
Fittingly, a compelling and informative point of this brief chapter inheres in the unmistakable importance of material prosperity as a consequence of modernization. Yes, modernization brings other sorts of outcomes as well, but Berger is first and foremost interested in material prosperity. I have no argument with this emphasis, but it tacitly raises once again the comparative value of materially well-endowed and spiritually rich sets of circumstances.
