ABSTRACT

Exploring the criticisms of performativity allowed us, to identify the deep point of disagreement, the original theoretical weakness: the difficulty of addressing performative failures. In the respect, the concept of convention is the central axis of our theoretical reconstruction: a theory transforms the social world when it becomes a social convention which is an element considered as a coordination marker within a population. The multidisciplinarity is not justified for its own sake, but because it was the most effective way to answer a specific question resulting from a reconstruction of the theory of performativity: how to explain the conditions necessary for performativity, which means how to think of the reasons for performative failures. The work consists of four major milestones: to define and resituate the theory of the performativity of economic theories; to explore, systematise and develop criticism; to propose analytical tools that would overcome these criticisms; and finally, to implement these tools.
