[Abstract: This concluding chapter draws together many threads from the preceding chapters, and restates that a strategic approach is necessary for English spelling, because it is not purely phonological in nature. On a personal note, I recount how I did not realize the spellings of some words until I was a postgraduate student. Equally personally, I argue that some kind of reform is necessary if enhanced literacy rates are desired; the tricky part is the implementation.]
