ABSTRACT

[Abstract: Nowadays, few people handwrite anything. With the ready availability of affordable computers with word-processing from the 1980s onwards, computers replaced typewriters; however, there was little upskilling in terms of the average person’s ability at keyboard skills, or knowledge of extra features afforded by computers. Instead, people continued using a keyboard as if they were still using a typewriter. This chapter describes many ways in which a computer differs from a typewriter, and encourages readers to exploit the full range of possibilities, in order to produce high-quality professional-looking documents even on low-budget computers.]
