ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on companies need to prove social responsibility, both in terms of environment and economic development. For this reason, the company management needs to focus on finding all the methods for reaching the goals to protect and preserve the environment for future generations. The environment–economy relationship needs to be harmonized in time and space to allow the achievement of a net effect, even though the environmental protection would impose actions that limit the economic activity. This implies finding a balance between the negative effects of the economic activity and the positive ones of the environment protection. Pollution degree of the environment depends on the configuration of economic structures, on their developing level, and the performance degree of the utilized technologies. Water pollution represents the biggest environmental issue in Romania. Water pollution proceeded from households or agricultural and industrial sources have a negative impact on fishing, irrigation, and fresh water supplying systems.
