ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on culture change approach. Culture artifacts are some of the visible elements such as a company's vision, mission, guiding principles, and goals; others would include office design, location, and office furniture; another is what is celebrated as success and how it is recognized. Behavioral norms are also visible as leadership's behaviors may be one of the most reliable ways to understand culture. The chapter provides Midwest Manufacturing Company's (MMC) culture assessments to illustrate the culture change process. Changing company culture has some similarities to moving to a different culture; one needs to learn to read the signals correctly, learn local customs and norms, learn how to get things done and how to deal with people in the best way. The Management Skills Profile Assessment is a valuable tool for both assessing leaders and also identifying and selecting leaders for future management positions.
