ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on how to apply LEOMS to transactional processes. It explores the supply chain transactional processes that can be applied on transactional processes of all organization functions. The LEOMS is being applied to processes outside of the supply chain, taking the LEOMS from the shop floor to the enterprise. Lean thinking and tools should also be applied to new product development and commercialization processes. All enterprise business processes are not equal in terms of their enterprise value creation and sustainment and for its customers. Processes can be segmented into strategic, core, and infrastructure. Process segmentation is extremely valuable as it clarifies organization's purpose and priorities related to managing their investments in continuously improving and redesigning processes, allowing every function to make the best choices in their process improvement investments. Core process continuous improvement focuses on striving for perfection in performance, quality, reliability, and waste elimination and increasing adoptability and flexibility to meet changing customer requirements.
