ABSTRACT

One of the key outcomes of PE is to educate our students to make informed decisions regarding their health and well-being. It is important to ensure that we consider lifelong learning objectives which allow our students to participate in physical activity beyond their education. This chapter explores ways in which PE can encourage our students to pursue sport and physical activity outside of the school environment, such as linking with community sports clubs and coaches. This chapter also includes some of the most common barriers students are faced with when attempting to transition into a community sport setting, and some practical ways to reduce these effects are included.
