ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the concept of "greening engineering" which is about connecting, integrating, and collaborating across functions, disciplines, and people. It highlights the classroom and experiential aspects that make engineering green such as innovation, entrepreneurship, design, leadership, and professionalism. The chapter explores the concept of "transdisciplinary" as being the direction the engineering curriculum should take. It discusses the approaches of greening engineering and embracing sustainability through deep consideration of various sustainability dimensions. The chapter also explores the fact of broadening engineering education through enriching the breadth and depth of knowledge and skills. It also discusses the effective learning and teaching styles to pave the path toward innovation, entrepreneurship, and design. The chapter provides a framework that recommends the aspects in entrepreneurship and design education to be emphasized during each year of engineering study process. It also provides three pedagogical knowledge strategies, namely knowledge acquisition, knowledge possession, and knowledge creation.
