ABSTRACT

This chapter is one of the most important because the definition of the system that is under consideration is the foundation of the BM. Different configurations, specifications, and aspects of systems are explained, as well as their functioning from the safety point of view. Here you can find explanations regarding normal operations (Successes) and abnormal operations (Failures). The difference between faults and failures is also explained.

This chapter is written with the particular use of systems in safety and quality analysis conducted by the BM in mind, so the basics of system considerations are also emphasized here.
