ABSTRACT
Postcolonial theory is a theoretical and empirical examination of colonialism and imperialism. This theory is particularly concerned with the psychological, economic, social, political and cultural experiences of the colonized from the onset of colonization to the present day. Postcolonial theorists (also referred to as postcolonial critics) examine, analyze, and critique the relationship between the colonized and the colonizer, and also within the colonized group. Through interrogating President Trump’s campaign speeches, this chapter examines how Cesaire’s ideas of discourse, representation, and othering are implicit in Trump’s discourse.
