ABSTRACT

Submitting a proposal is merely the first step in a longer and ongoing process of doing academic research in the humanities and social sciences. Whether your proposal is rejected or awarded, this chapter describes the next steps in your research program. We emphasize that rejection is common, and should be viewed as a segment on the path to a successful award. Once a proposal is funded, this chapter provides key points for communicating with the right people on your campus, and getting the project underway.
