ABSTRACT

As we discussed in Chapter 4, the profession of project management promotes the benefits of signing on a project manager to increase the odds that a project will come to fruition as originally planned, delivering value with all three sides of the Iron Triangle intact. The proposition that value can be delivered with all original sides of the Iron Triangle intact can seem daunting, almost impossible, in the face of the unpredictable change experienced by industries and markets every day. Combine unpredictable changes to business requirements with stakeholders who have personalities similar to Sybil, Margaret Mead, Einstein, and Donald Trump, you will need more than a grip on scope, schedule, and cost to deliver success: You will need to become a magician!
