ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how rational emotive behaviour (REB) coaches tend to work towards closing the rational emotive behavioural coaching (REBC) process with their coachees. It also discusses the issue of follow-up and the evaluation of REBC. Often REB coaches and coachees agree to meet less often as coachees make progress towards their objectives and wish to become more autonomous in the process. The coach's role is basically a listening, clarifying one, perhaps prompting coachees to focus on any areas not covered by their summary and learning statement. It is also important for coaches to give coachees an opportunity to raise any matters of unfinished business and to help coachees to gain closure. And it is equally important to seek feedback from the coachee concerning what was valuable about the process and not helpful if these issues have not been covered by the coachee's summary and learning statement.
