In considering problem-based goals, it is useful to distinguish between those related to practical problems and those related to emotional problems. After the coachee has been helped to specify these behavioural, cognitive and affective responses, these then become the coachee's goals. Coaches in Rational Emotive Behavioural Coaching (REBC) will give coachees a rationale about helping them to deal productively with the prospect of drying up while giving a talk, and then helping them to develop confidence regarding public speaking. When in development-focused-REBC, someone sets an objective, this normally indicates that they are seeking development or enhancement of some aspect of the way they function as a human being in whatever area of life they nominate, such as business coaching, career coaching, relationship coaching or 'life coaching'. When REB coaches help coachees to set objectives, they need to bear certain points i.
