ABSTRACT

In this chapter we will examine some major issues in the point and counterpoint existing between those who believe that marijuana should remain illegal, if decriminalized, and those that want it made legal to adults, regulated like alcohol. Subject matter such as marijuana’s addictive potential and its capacity to cause cognitive deficits and schizophrenia will be weighed with both sides of the debate highlighted. This chapter accentuates the controversy about cannabis, underscoring why many students eventually make their own decisions influenced by a confirmation bias.
