ABSTRACT

Becoming a change agent or increasing game players' skill as a change agent is fundamentally about making changes in what they see and what they do. This chapter describes the rules that have helped a person to become much more effective. More often than not they reflect changes one had to make in him/herself and how one approached the challenges that working for change presented to his/her. Some of these challenges involved temptations to yield to bitterness, frustration, or simple laziness. Observing one's ineffectiveness or the ineffectiveness of other change agents led him/her to formulate many of these rules. The single most important thing one can bring to any change effort is themself—their values, personality, intelligence, talents, insights, passion, connections, and actions. This chapter provides a set of rules that help players think about how their own attitudes and actions affect the prospects for change. Understanding options for how they can act and react to a variety of situations and challenges can help them act more purposefully.
