ABSTRACT
Thermal stresses induced in structural components due to changes in temperature are determined in this chapter. Examples include disks (solid and annular) subjected to linearly varying temperatures with the radial distance and thick-walled cylindrical and spherical vessels (empty and pressurized) experiencing steady-state heat flows. Solutions of initiation of ductile yield and elastic–plastic expansions are obtained.
