ABSTRACT

This chapter expands the use of the Three-Pronged Model to working with chemical and behavioral addictions, including eating disorders. It describes how to use the model in this context, by exploring the desired effect sought by the client through his addiction (e.g., raising energy/calming, connection with/escape from others), and then matching the practice to that need. The chapter provides specific intake questions for addiction work, followed by a plan on how to progress in the practice, including the use of the “set pose” and the “go-to pose” aimed at aiding the client in working with addiction specifically.
