ABSTRACT

This chapter concludes the study of this book. In Scandinavia, Þórr’s links with thunder are weaker than might be expected; even in the clearest attestations, thunder is cited as one association among several. In Iceland, the links are weaker still, which may be a function of the island’s climate. This chapter also sums up the other forms of variety in representations of Þórr investigated in this book, before underlining that consistency in the deity’s mythological appearances comes primarily from imagery of the god’s strength.
