ABSTRACT: The cities evolve and that leads to consequences to the environment. Progress entails prosperity and well-being; however, it can also reduce the quality of life for the population and cause environmental degradation. This paper will showcase the surveying of noise from the pile driver in a building site and the study of its propagation, checking its suitability with Brazilian legislation. The pile driver’s levels of sound pressure were measured; a chart for cross-reference was created from the equipment; the noise levels surrounding the site were analysed and compared to the legislation. By analysing the site and one of the equipments it is already possible to state that the measured values are already very elevated and the value that comes to the environment added to the one which already exists is above the legislation threshold for a predominantly residential, mixed zone.
