ABSTRACT

The methodology chosen for the analysis of AW was the European statistics on accidents at work (European Comission-Eurostat, 2001), promoted by Eurostat. The variables analysed will be: “occupation”; “age”; “time”; “specific physical activity”; “deviation”; “material agent-mode of injury”; “contact-mode of injury”; “type of injury”; “part of body injured”; “days lost (severity)”. In order to adapt to the reality of T, some changes were made to the answer options to the variable “Occupation”. The data considered were supplied by “Gabinete de Estratégia e Planeamento”, because they are taken from the insurance companies’ data and they meet the European guidelines, which makes them more reliable (Reis, 2007). The data for 2013 regarding CC were retrieved through a direct consultation of the GEP’s website. The ones regarding T were obtained through a specific request the authors addressed to the GEP, and the statistical data concerning 84 AW were retrieved.
