ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to determine whether different backpack loading conditions influences neck and lumbar muscle activity of elementary school children.

2 METHODS

2.1 Subjects

14 elementary school children participated in the study, 9 female and 5 male (mean age 8.93 ± 0.73), with backpack mean weight 3.92 ± 0.93 Kg (result of one week evaluation), which represents 11,58% of their average body mass. However analysis of the maximum backpack weight would represent 18,73% of the child body mass.
