ABSTRACT
A novel approach to fabricating a catalytic membrane and membrane reactor with an example is presented in this chapter and is compared with the other conventional techniques. Three steps to prepare a catalytic membrane—fabrication of a ceramic support membrane, preparation of a catalyst, and coating of a catalyst over the exterior or interior surface according to requirements of the system—are discussed. System economics in terms of the probable cost of the optimized catalytic membrane are also evaluated.
