ABSTRACT

Vector-borne diseases are very common in developing tropical countries and pose a health threat globally. Vector-borne diseases include malaria, dengue, and Zika virus. Controlling these diseases mainly rely on vector control. However, vector control is usually difficult and ineffective. There are many methods for vector control such as bed nets, insecticides, and biological controls. The use of microbial controls for vector-borne diseases is very interesting and there are much ongoing research on the topic. In this chapter, the author briefly summarizes and discusses reports on microbial control of important vector-borne diseases (such as malaria, dengue, and filariasis) in Thailand, a tropical country in Southeast Asia.
