ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the consequences of having only one eye. It then shows physical issues as a result of the lack of depth perception. The chapter presents a discussion of a growing degree of acceptance, coming to terms with a different perspective on life. Removing the ability to see from one eye had an interesting side effect; in medical terminology, it is known as right side spatial neglect. Yet several months later, once author's eye condition had stabilised, he/she was surprised with unexpected hope when one of his/her doctors mentioned that there might be a quick surgical fix for his/her tilted point of view. The author could hardly contain his/her excitement and dreamt of things coming back into normal focus. He/she found himself/herself very much looking forward to going under the scalpel again and counted the scars on his/her body, preparing for one more.
