ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the background and need for robust watermark and provides the different terminologies related to robust watermark. It explores the robust watermarking algorithms, identifies the research gap and research interest in this field and details their scheme in MATLAB. Robust watermarks are used for ownership assertion and to prove authorization. Robust watermarks are more resistant to various types of intentional and unintentional attacks. A self-embedding approach is highly unsuitable for robust watermarking which is why we use any image as the watermark that is related to the owner of the cover image. The dimension of the watermark image will always be smaller than the dimensions of the cover image. Single intensity information of the watermark is embedded into multiple locations of the cover image. Binary images are the most suitable type of watermark that can be used in robust watermarking as they take very few bits to represent the principal content of the watermark.
