ABSTRACT

Building on the conclusion to Chapter 3, Chapter 4 digs more deeply into the structure of the Bar, and how this may help or hinder a professional association seeking to instigate demographic changes within the profession. It addresses the particular qualities that have been highlighted in existing literature, and explores how these feature in the efforts of the case study professional association. Focussing particularly on size, composition, field position and internal motivations, this chapter peels away the layers of a professional association initiating and developing a unique effort to explore why and how it came about.
