ABSTRACT

For a health professional, accustomed to more precise decisions like those for medicine, surgery, pediatrics, psychiatry, or nursing, the ones for philosophy, its branches and sub-domains are more than diverse. Esthetics may be considered as philosophy of art. Philosophy in medicine is about the uses and applications of philosophy regarding various problems in medicine. Principles of medical ethics apply to all health professions. Medical ethics may be seen as the study of values of health, disease, and care and the morality of health professionals' actions, behavior, and conduct. Epistemology questions possibilities of obtaining knowledge, methods of obtaining knowledge, its meaning, as well as how to be certain about it. Logic in general defines valid reasoning, which helps to understand the meaning of health phenomena and leads to the justification of the choice of clinical, and paraclinical decisions and how to act on such phenomena.
