ABSTRACT

This chapter increases students’ knowledge about engineering companies in France. At the end of this chapter, students will be able to name France’s main engineering companies and to identify the sector in which the companies work. They learn techniques for animating lists, using critical thinking strategies to identify trends and patterns in lists and then to describe the trends in a narrative. Students develop their ability to read articles about the attributes that employers seek in employees and vice versa. They develop the skill of gleaning vocabulary from documents and integrating the new lexical items into their own language abilities. Students work on being able to describe what they value in an employer. In addition, they learn strategies for being an active listener.
