ABSTRACT

The ladies are singing about how someone could become a better stripper. While entertaining and funny, this song illustrates a couple of economics concepts. First, this song illustrates the returns to human capital, as the ladies all invested time and energy to “get a gimmick” in order to receive higher wages. Whether it was Miss Mazeppa, who figured out how to “bump it with a trumpet” or Tessie Tura who does “it with finesse,” they all invested. Education and training usually do result in higher wages, and according to this song – these strippers are no exception.
