That fits the impression many people have – that accounting is a boring job. 1 The fact that many think accounting is boring along with the fact that there is a high demand for accountants is a key reason that accountants generally earn high salaries. New college graduates with accounting degrees often earn starting salaries of $50,000 a year or more. 2
