ABSTRACT
Leo Bloom wants to find a girl he recently met but he knows nothing about her. He wants to find her so badly that he has agreed to work for free. This is in exchange for a new piece of information about how to find her every month. “Closer to Her” illustrates a couple of interesting concepts. First, there is no minimum wage where Leo is working (or perhaps the law is being violated), because if there was any minimum wage, he could not work for free. If there was a minimum wage, the firm could not legally hire Leo and he wouldn’t be able to obtain the information about the girl – which he views as more valuable than money. The minimum wage could actually hurt both the employer and employee. This happens when somebody is unemployed who would work for less than the minimum wage and the firm cannot afford to hire a worker for the higher wage.
