ABSTRACT

FOR MANY PEOPLE THE very word ‘assessment’ can conjure upideas of judgement, and power, or of somehow finding people lackingor unworthy. Yet, responsibly and creatively applied, assessment can make sure that children receive relevant help, and that the most appropriate

form of story work and play therapy is available to them. In this Chapter we

will consider various forms of assessment that we can use in our story work,

and use stories themselves as part of an assessment procedure.
