ABSTRACT
Play and drama are activities that we engage in all our lives – in one form or
another. We play sports or play the fool, we play roles to fit a situation and
we dress up in uniforms, we speak in an authoritative voice in one situation
and then become meek and mild in another. These are just a few ways in
which we create interactive activities and dramatise situations in ‘non-
theatrical’ life. The ‘Play of Life’ and the ‘Drama of Life’ are everyday stages
of human development and being. They commence even before we are born
and they continue from birth until death. However this development can be
disrupted by early trauma, neglect, abuse and ignorance.
