ABSTRACT

The impetus for the development of the BNVR test was a clinical impression that individuals with poor problem-solving skills were less likely to benefit from language therapies. Future research will explore the very important possibility that the BNVR test may be a useful tool to establish 'readiness' for therapy. This has already been suggested by extensive clinical experience, but requires further empirical evidence. In addition, it will also be important to extend the use of the BNVR test to other clinical populations, such as those with dementia or Parkinson's disease, and to extend the early work on those with brain injury to include those who have undergone neurosurgery. Finally, although the BNVR test was designed to be culture fair this requires confirmation.
