ABSTRACT

The aim of the EDS programme is to provide multiple opportunities for carers and children to practise and develop new skills in a highly supportive environment. The child is given repeated opportunities to achieve EDS goals as set by carers (with guidance from clinicians), and carers have multiple opportunities to develop goal-setting and management skills. Although the overall aim of the programme is to develop oral EDS skills and oral intake, it is also an effective means of getting both carers and children motivated to start working on ways of overcoming EDS difficulties, and provide them with the confidence to continue progress outside the clinical context.
