ABSTRACT

Assessments can be conducted by different professionals and may reflect the role of the profession in particular or the interests of the specific clinician. For example, oral motor skills are always assessed by the speech & language therapists, and the child’s nutritional status by the dietitian. Assessments are typically carried out in two stages: pre-contact forms which are sent to carers for filling in (eg Case History Form), and Assessment Day, where children attend multiple appointments for assessment of individual areas (eg sensory skills).
