ABSTRACT

Group leadership involves the ability and facility to work with the group as a whole as well as with individual group members. This applies to all types of groups and is also important for psychoeducational groups. Chapter 6 describes group level skills such as linking, which can highlight similarities among group members, practice examples for group level responses, and the elements of effective communication. Presented also are examples for ineffective communication and questioning that can guide the leader’s attention and development for increasing their effective communication, and as a guide for helping group members to learn more effective ways to communicate.
