ABSTRACT
This chapter contains the most extensive published collection of design curves, charts, and tables for hydrodynamic journal bearings and thrust bearings. The presentation of this design information is accompanied with sample application design computations utilizing the provided design information. Journal bearing configurations treated include (1) cylindrical 360°, (2) high-load cylindrical, (3) 2-axial groove cylindrical, (4) partial arc, (5) preloaded multi-arc lobe, and (6) tilting pad. Thrust bearing design curves are included both for configurations with (1) fixed pads and (2) tilting pads.
