ABSTRACT

The organization gives every employee annually a strategy map to highlight priorities and objectives for the coming year. There are elements on the map that have not changed in years and won't change in the foreseeable future, as they reflect the foundation of O. C. Tanner. Creating a level of stability that everyone can count on creates a sense of calm even in times of rapid change. O. C. Tanner's key to hiring success is looking for connections to the company's purpose and values, not trying to find people who think the same way as their hiring manager or others in the organization. To avoid groupthink, the organization deliberately looks for diverse thinkers who also align with their common purpose. Gap's balance of purpose and execution requires both internal and external coordination and partnerships. A big theme for Gap is integration. This means that every initiative has identified partners to ensure it gets implemented correctly and when expected.
