ABSTRACT

An important element of trust is how leaders handle the daily solving of problems in the organization. Trust busters who are in love with their ideas have no shortage of ideas and no shortage of willingness to share their ideas. In fact, they are often so busy creating good ideas to solve problems in their schools they do not see they are creating more problems than they are solving. Leaders who are so in love with their ideas that they cannot listen to the ideas of others create problems that lead to long-term trust issues. Trust busters who are in love with their own ideas do not understand that there is rarely one best answer. Thus, there is wisdom in listening to others, and this principal failed to systemically consider options and then generate support for a proposed solution. Decisions impacting a number of staff have far-reaching consequences in issues of trust, morale, and long-term success.
