ABSTRACT

The face is not just a set of features; rather it is something that gives others a glimpse into our emotions. Our faces generally express the state of our emotions whether we are conscious of this or not. Consequently, our facial expressions offer others clues to predict our moods. Leaders who walk around the school with a frown or an angry expression can be viewed as being moody and being in a perpetual bad mood is a trust buster. Walking around the school with a worried, furrowed brow also conveys a bad mood. Perhaps readers are not grumpy, angry, or worried. Rather, they are unaware that their countenance is negative. Perhaps the reader do not realize that their face is making a statement about their mood to others that causes them to be perceived as moody, grumpy, angry, or worried, and thus unapproachable and untrusting.
