ABSTRACT

Effective leaders generally have a healthy sense of themselves. They tend to monopolize conversations and meetings; rarely are they speechless. Regardless of the situation, drama queens and kings make a big deal out of lots of things. Drama queens and kings often have high energy and are easily bored. Cindy had moved on and created many more dramas. They can generate problems when few exist. Some are known to "awful-ize" situations with predictions stated as facts. An admitted drama queen, monopolized meetings with her staff and with her colleagues. She talked much of the time and offered opinions and hearsay about the problems at hand. When the economy worsened, Cindy speculated and discussed the worst-case scenarios of teachers losing their jobs. Creating unnecessary drama in the workplace is an action that breaks trust. Leaders can build trust by monitoring their responses and managing their need for attention.
