ABSTRACT

Learning to accept being wrong or making a mistake is an important step in building trust. The person throwing the ball tries to get everyone out to win the round. Having an "it's not my fault" mind-set is like dodging the ball, hoping someone else will get hit. Not taking responsibility in work situations is a way school leaders break trust. The purpose of the meeting was to develop strategies for improving the authors' instruction. During the discussion, one of the authors' team members pointed out how some students were poor test takers and that the test was not indicative of what students needed to know. Insecurities, fears, or patterns of behaviors from the past could be contributing to reader actions that break trust. A personal analysis of these motivations can help reader understand these behaviors and develop a more positive, effective approach to handling difficult situations.
