ABSTRACT

Many children with language and/or learning difficulties also experience difficulties with social, emotional and behavioural development. Emotional literacy packages often contain worksheets, stories and abstract language concepts. Children who have difficulties with literacy, attention or speech and language may find it difficult to access many aspects of these packages. One of the aims of this resource is to deliver an appealing, practical and meaningful programme which all children (including those with learning difficulties) will find easy to access and enjoy. The concepts delivered in this resource have been simplified and aim to cater for different learning styles. Literacy elements have been reduced. Emphasis is given to practical approaches such as games and role plays. The resource is built around a visual model of anger (the firework model: Figure I).
