ABSTRACT

Facilitating groupwork The advantages of groupwork Pupils benefit in several ways from being members of a supportive group led by a skilled facilitator as opposed to working individually. The small group setting gives them a safe environment to explore self-regulation issues, develop self-esteem and practise new skills. Being in a group gives more opportunity during the learning process to develop ways of relating to others. Pupils, particularly adolescents, are known to be particularly tuned in to the views and opinions of their peer group, so a positive group can enhance the learning experience.
